Covidien – a nearly $9 billion global leader in
medical devices and supplies, diagnostic imaging agents, pharmaceuticals and
other healthcare products – is seeking a patent and trademark attorney. The attorney will be an integral part of business teams for Respiratory
and Monitoring Solutions (RMS) Global Business Unit and provide dynamic
support in all aspects of intellectual property including patent and
trademark preparation, product clearances, agreement drafting and
negotiation, and litigation.
Responsibilities:
1. 5+ years patent prosecution, client counseling and licensing. Litigation experience preferred.
2. Gain a sophisticated working knowledge of the specific technical interests of RMS.
3. Work with research and development to secure disclosures of
invention and closely follow development projects for preparation of
patent applications in assigned areas of responsibility
4. Prepare and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and abroad
5. Supervise outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of patent and trademark applications
6. Ensure that RMS has the right to make, use and sell products developed and brought to market
7. Promote as appropriate the interests of RMS on intellectual property matters
8. Follow patents issued in fields of interest to RMS, and bring
relevant patents to the attention of appropriate RMS research personnel
and Chief Patent and Trademark Counsel
This position may be located in Boulder, Colorado or Carlsbad, California.
