The German firm Viering, Jentschura & Partner is seeking recent
physics/engineering graduates with interest in and/or experience in intellectual
property law for a position as trainees in our main offices in Munich,
Germany.
Candidates with electrical engineering or physics backgrounds are preferred, but
candidates with other engineering backgrounds will also be considered.
Candidates must possess a degree in physics or engineering (Master's, Doctorate,
or equivalent scientific or technical work experience preferred), have strong
writing skills in English, and be eligible to be licensed to practice before the
US Patent and Trademark Office. In particular, candidates must possess the
requisite scientific/technical background to take the USPTO Agent’s Exam.
U.S. citizenship is required, as candidates will need to be able to obtain/keep
their registration to practice before the USPTO while living abroad. No German
language skills are required, but candidates must be prepared to learn enough
German to function in society and to meet requirements for a long-term residence
visa.
Successful candidates will work in a small U.S. team within the firm's Physics
and Electronics department to assist attorneys with preparing and prosecuting
our clients’ U.S.-style patent applications and with coordinating their
world-wide patent prosecution activities.
Compensation will depend on education/experience. Our German offices strive to
